On May 6, 2017 I returned to the Hamptons to do the show at the Southampton Cultural Center. I was invited by my good friend, former Good Morning America Producer Tory Masters to perform as part of the East End Mental Health Awareness Initiative and the event was co-sponsored by the Town of East Hampton and the Town of Southampton. It was a wonderful experience! Broadway accompanist Christine Cadarette played for the show and was a joy to work with, as was the Cultural Center's fabulous tech crew (thank you Sara, Charles and Sage!) After years of readings and workshops, this was, incidentally, the first time I had ever performed a full scale production of From Ship to Shape without a script in my hand, in front of a live audience and everything came together perfectly. It was one of those magical performances where all the stars aligned. I felt so much love from and for this audience which was comprised of many fellow mental illness travelers. Nothing means more to me than when someone who has been through it, (or is going through it) approaches me after a show and tells me it made them feel less alone. It's why I do it. Thanks to all who came out and made this day what it was.
